Homeopathic Medicine for Neuralgia

Pain, severe, throbbing or stabbing in character along the course or distribution of a nerve is known as neuralgia.

Aconitum nap. (Thrice a day): Neuralgia of the face due to exposure to cold or cold draught. Pain in joints. Face flushed. Neuralgia of the face specially of the left side.

Arsenicum alb. (Thrice a day): Periodical attacks of pain worse by cold and better by warmth. Pain of a burning character.

Belladonna (Thrice a day): Neuralgia of face, cheeks, nose, jaws, temples and neck. Rush of blood towards the head.

Chamomilla (Thrice a day): Violent unbearable pains worse on the left side of the face extending to the head and temples. The patient feels pain more than it actually is. Pain worse by touch. Neuralgia with numbness.

Cannabis ind. (Thrice a day): Ciliary neuralgia. Pain around the eyes extends to temples, brows and ears. Eyes and lids red.

Colocynthis (Thrice a day): It has symptoms like Magnesium phos. and is indicated when hard pressure relieves.

Gelsemium (Thrice a day): Neuralgia with trembling of the lower extremities. Does not want to be disturbed or spoken to.

Kalium bich. 200 (One dose daily): Neuralgia at the same hour every day.

Kalium iod. 3x (Thrice a day): Neuralgia of the left eye with soreness of the head.

Kalmia lat. (Thrice a day): Neuralgic pains shoot downwards with numbness and a sense of coldness in the limbs.

Macrotinum 2x (Thrice a day): Neuralgic pains in the limbs specially before the start of menses with relief after the flow starts.

Magnesium phos. 12x (Thrice a day): One of the best remedies in neuralgia, when the neuralgia is on the right side and is relieved by warmth and pressure.

Oleum animalis (Thrice a day): A useful remedy for neuralgia of the spermatic cord.

Pulsatilla nig. (Thrice a day): Facial neuralgia worse in the evening. Pain with coldness of the affected parts. Thirst less patients.

Sanguinaria (Thrice a day): Neuralgia of the right side. Burning pain worse on motion and touch. Better in darkness and sleep.

Spigelia (Thrice a day): Neuralgia of the left side – left eye, left chest, left shoulder, left neck, etc. Pains are shooting and burning. Neuralgia of fifth nerve is prominent with its effect.

Symphytum off. 200 (One dose only): Use it for neuralgia of the knees.

Thuja occ. 200 (One dose only) Repeat after a week: Many neuralgia’s have psychosis as their base. Therefore, start the case with a single dose of this remedy on the first day in chronic cases only.
