Body cells have the property to die and regrow and this process is called “Apoptosis”. When the cells lose their property of dying and continue to grow, they grow out of control and spread. This is cancer. This is a result of a defective gene. It is not yet known as to why cancer cells evade destruction. Research is required as how to trigger the immune system to kill tumours.

Cancers are of 3 types:

1. Sarcoma: Such cancers arise from underlying tissues. May affect the bones, bladder, kidneys, liver, lungs, parotids and spleen.
2. Carcinoma: It is a malignant tumour enclosing epithelial cells in connective tissue and may affect any organ or part of the body.
3. Lymphoma: It affects vessels and organs of the body’s lymph system (spleen, thymus, lymph nodes).

SURGERY

For many cancers, Surgery is a key point of treatment. Sometimes radiation or chemotherapy are used first to shrink the tumour before it is removed. It makes the Surgery safer and easier. The following procedures are generally adopted to test cancer:

1. Biopsy: This test is done to determine whether the tumour is cancerous (malignant) or harmless (benign). A small piece of the tissue is removed and examined under the microscope by a pathologist or an expert doctor.
2. Blood counts: Blood counts of white blood cells and red blood cells are examined under a microscope.
3. Platelet count: It is made in a given amount of blood. Platelets are a part of blood that help stop bleeding.
4. Bone marrow test.
5. CAT scan (Computerised axial tomography).
6. Echocardiogram: Checks the functioning of the heart.
7. Lumbar puncture: It is made to test cerebro-spinal fluid.
8. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
10. Radioisotope studies (Scans).
11. Ultrasound studies (Echo studies).

Aceticum acidum (Thrice a day): Epithelial cancer and the cancer of layers lining the cavities of the alimentary canal.

Acidum phos. 1x (Thrice a day): It is useful in relieving pain of cancer, and mental and physical debility.

Arsenicum alb. 1M Given stat; Repeat every 3rd day: Cancer of the testicles. Give two doses a day, when no other general symptom of the remedy is present.

Arsenicum iod. 3x (Thrice a day), Asterias rub. (Thrice a day): Cancer of breasts when ulceration has started.

Asterias rub. 1x (Thrice a day): It acts on cancer of both breasts but better left. Breasts are hard and painful. Patient is fleshy with a red face. It has a great influence in cancer diseases.

Beilis per. (Thrice a day): Cancer of stomach with burning pain in the esophagus.

Cadmium phos. (Thrice a day): Cancer of testicles.

Cadmium sulph. (Thrice a day): Cancer of stomach with persistent vomiting and constant bleeding of black fluid. Also for cancer of prostate gland.

Cistus can., (Thrice a day) Crotalus hor. (Thrice a day): For cancer of prostate gland.

Calcarea sulph. (Thrice a day): Fibroma of uterus with very offensive yellowish bleeding and cystic tumours.

Calendula off. Q (Thrice a day): Has a remarkable power to reduce local bleeding of a cancer and helps to make acrid discharge healthy and free. Use it as an intercurrent remedy whenever healing is required after exudation.

Carcinosinum 30-200 (One dose only) Repeat after a week: This fluid extract of specifically breast cancers is very useful in the treatment of carcinoma of mammary glands, with great pain and hardness of glands, also that of uterus. The fetid discharge, bleeding and pain are greatly relieved. One dose a night after a week.

Carduus mar. Q. (Thrice a day): Cancer of the liver. It reduces pain of cancer. It also reduces the inflammation of the liver. Diarrhea due to cancer, especially that of the rectum.

Chininum sulph. (Thrice a day): Cancerous ulcer due to suppression of malaria.

Cholesterinum 3x (Thrice a day): For cancer of the liver.

Cholinum Q (Thrice a day): It gives encouraging results in treatment of cancer of the bladder. Use 1-2 ml of the fluid extract. There is a sensation of bubbles bursting in the bowels.

Cinnamomum Q (Four times a day): Used as an antiseptic agent for washing cancer parts when the skin is intact. Use 3 to 4 drops in about 2 litres of water, orally 5 drops, few times daily. It is especially useful when there is an offensive odor present. It also reduces pain of cancer. May be used for hemorrhage after delivery.

Cistus can. (Thrice a day): Cancer of glands of the neck with sensation of coldness in various parts.

Cobaltum (Thrice a day): Cancer of the lungs.

Conium mac. 1M (One dose only) Repeat after a week: Cancer of breasts and testicles. Tumor of the abdomen.

Cundurango Q (Thrice a day): Cancer of esophagus and stomach. Relieves pain of cancer. Even touch of a finger on the affected site gives pain.

Crotalus hor. (Thrice a day): Cancer of stomach with vomiting of bloody, slimy mucus.

Echinacea Q (Thrice a day): 10-15 drops in a little warm water reduces the pain of cancer in the last stages. Bleeding is foul smelling.

Euphorbium off. (Thrice a day): It acts as a palliative for reducing burning pains of cancer. It also removes the bad odor coming out of the cancer. Ulcerating carcinoma and epithelioma of the skin with biting. Burning pains in bones due to cancer.

Ficus rel. Q (Thrice a day) 5-10 drops in ½ cup of water: Intractable bleeding from fibroids. A very positive remedy.

Galium aparine (Thrice a day): For cancerous ulcers and nodulated tumours of the tongue.

Graphites (One dose daily): Cancer of pylorus and duodenum.

Hekla lava 3x (Thrice a day): Cancer of the bones.

Hepar Sulphuris (Thrice a day): When the patient becomes weak due to copious discharge from the opening of a cancer, this remedy in higher potencies dries the discharge and helps to remove the weakness.

Hoang nan Q (Thrice a day) 5-25 drops in ½ cup of water: It is useful in cancer of any glandular or secreting organ (glands) whether bleeding or not. Start with 5 drops thrice daily and gradually increase the dose to 25 drops. It removes the foul smell and revives the healing process.

Hydrastis (Thrice a day): Cancer of breasts before start of ulceration. Cancer of the uterus. It can be used for douching — 10 drops in a tumbler of luke warm water.

Hydrocotyle Q (Thrice a day): Palliative in pains of cervical cancer and useful in treatment of rectal cancer.

Kalium ars. (Thrice a day): Skin cancer without any visible symptoms. Many small nodules under the skin.

Kalium cyan, (Thrice a day): Cancer of the tongue and rectum.

Kalium phos. (Thrice a day): When cancer has been removed surgically and the healing process has started but the skin is drawn tight over the wound causing inconvenience, use of this remedy eases the patient.

Kreosotum (Thrice a day): Cancer of the vagina and prostate. Dribbling of urine. Cannot control the urge to urinate.

Lemon juice (Thrice a day): Palliative in pains of cancer of the tongue. Use 5ml. in 8 ounces of water.

Lycopodium (Thrice a day): Carcinoma with emaciation and weight loss. Lacks vital heat. Change in bladder and bowel habits. Pain travels from right to left and is worse 4PM – 8PM.

Malandrinum 1M (One dose only): It is efficacious in clearing the remains of the cancerous deposits. Only 1 dose is given at the end of the treatment when cancer has been cured.

Morphinum (Twice a day): Pain of cancer is. Relieved when the patient is very sensitive and restless, jerks the limbs. Convulsions are threatened.

Ornithogalum Q (One dose only): Cancer of intestinal tract especially of stomach in its lower part and at the start of the intestines. Depression of spirits, complete prostration. Painful contraction and duodenal distention. Pains increase when food passes the pyloric outlet. Cancer of abdomen. Give a single dose of 10-15 drops and repeat only after seeing results. Cancer of cecum.

Ova tosta 3x (Thrice a day): Relieves pain of cancer anywhere when backache is present.

Phosphorus (Thrice a day): Excessively bleeding fibroids and cancer especially in the stomach. Cancer of pancreas or of bones, especially lower jaw and tibia.

Phytolacca dec. Q (Thrice a day): Tumors or cancer of breasts. Enlarged axillary glands. Sore spot in the right hypochondrium.

Psoralea bit. (Thrice a day): Uterine tumours. It also reduces pain of cancer.

Radium brom. (Thrice a day): Cancer of skin with itching, great burning and restlessness better by a hot bath and moving about.

Ruta (Thrice a day): Carcinoma of lower bowels and rectum.

Sanguinaria (Thrice a day): Cancer of rectum.

Scirrhinum 1M (One dose only) Repeat after 15 days: To be given once only as an intercurrent remedy.

Scrophularia nodosa Q (Thrice a day): It is a powerful remedy for tumours of the breasts. 10 drops a dose, thrice daily causes disappearance in a few months.

Strychnos Q (Thrice a day): Removes offensive odor and hemorrhage of cancer.

Symphytum off. (Thrice a day): Cancer of bones, periosteum, especially of joints.

Taraxacum Q (Thrice a day): Cancer of the bladder.

Tarentula cub. (Thrice a day): It reduces pain of cancer.

Tarentula cub. (Thrice a day), Scirrhinum (Thrice a day), Lachesis (Thrice a day): Use any of these remedies for cancer of the breasts, taking into consideration other symptoms of the remedy concerned.

Thuja occ. 200 (One dose daily): Ill-effects of vaccination resulting in cancer of the face with rapid emaciation.

Ustilago may. Q (Thrice a day): Cancer of cervix with a sensation as if there is boiling water is flowing along the back. Bleeding easily.

Viburnum prun. Q (Thrice a day): For cancer of the tongue.

NOTE 1: When the selected remedies do not produce relief, anti-miasmic remedies like Thuja, Medorrhinum, Syphilinum, etc. can be employed to induce the system to respond to the proper remedy. Besides the above, cancer nosodes like Carcinocinum and Scirrhinum have particular importance in vacating the cancer miasma which, therefore, needs to be kept in mind during the treatment.

NOTE 2: Red hot peppers are loaded with antioxidants, bioflavonoids, plenolic acid and plant sterals that all help to protect against cancer. Research has shown that hot peppers can lower cholesterol and have anti-blood clotting abilities, making them a smart choice for heart health too. Red hot peppers contain 14 times more vitamin A than that found in fresh, green hot pepper. Both are excellent sources of vitamin C.

NOTE 3: Garlic contains phenolic acid which scavenges for free radicals, interrupting cancer development.

NOTE 4: Cancer is a very complex set of diseases and the key is to make the whole body strong, so that it can fight off the invaders.

NOTE 5: The patient should not be denied particular foods unless there is a good reason for it. Aurum ars. 30 stimulates appetite, in such cases.

NOTE 6: The important warning signals of cancer are unusual bleeding external or internal, a lump, a sore which refuses to heal, a change in bowel or bladder habits, hoarseness or persistent cough, indigestion or difficulty in swallowing, a change in size or appearance of a wart or a mole and unexplained loss of weight.
